GREEN

Real Estate as an industry has traditionally been a resource-taxing profession.  Paper transactions with abundant waste have been the norm.  Recently, there has been a shift in minimizing resource and energy consumption and the real estate industry is embracing alternatives.  We are encouraged by these changes.  In real estate, sellers, buyers and homeowners alike are more conscious of energy and ecological issues pertaining to homeownership.  According to the National Association of REALTORS® in 2007, "more than 90 percent of homebuyers thought energy efficiency, a key green building feature, was an important consideration when searching for a home to purchase."

Personally and professionally, Loretta McClellan has always strived for incorporating Green Practices into her life and business model throughout her career.  From recycling aluminum cans and rainwater as a child - among other methods, Loretta's support of green measures began early.  Measuring "green-ness" is subjective, just as determining what is "good art" is subjective.  To be part of the process of always moving forward in improvement of our ecological footprint, sustainability and environmental responsibility is the key.

GREEN FLASH: Loretta was one of the first 33 REALTORS® in California to earn the first-ever National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) GREEN Designation on 10 March, 2009.  Read the Media Release here.
